  1. 4.  Robert Welbank was born about 1580 in North Cowton (son of Robert Welbancke); died in 1641 in North Cowton; was buried in Apr 1641 in St Mary's, South Cowton, Yorkshire, England .

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Note: Parentage; Robert married and began a family around 1614, so could have been born 1580-1590. Several Welbank men in North Cowton are recorded having children around this time, so it's not possible to say who his father was. Richard has son John (Johis) in 1571. Thomas has son John in 1572. Robert has daughter Isabel in 1575. George has a son in 1579. Edward has a son George in 1591.
    • Occupation: yeoman
    • Note: 13 Jan 1614/5, Richmond; listed as a juryman in the Richmond quarter-sessions ... a Hardraw publican for suffering disorder in his House and drinking in the time of Divine Service &c; a man living at Launes in Askrigg for badging and carrying of butter and cheese without licence &c...

    Children:
    1. Welbank was christened in 1614.

Generation: 4

  1. 8.  Robert Welbancke was born about 1530 in North Cowton (son of George Welbancke); died in 1580? in North Cowton.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Note: His children are all speculatively linked to him, just so they are in a family tree and easy to navigate to. Isabel was born to a Robert, before his death was recorded, so is a reasonable supposition. John was brought before the courts for vagrancy in 1616, there is no info about his age or parentage, but he could be Robert's son. Robert, ancestor of current Welbanks, might be his eldest son. They both own land in N Cowton. But there are several men in North Cowton having families around this time, so any of them could have been his father.
    • Note: 1558; 1558-1579 courtcase Welbancke v Welbancke, Ralph vs Robert re property in N Cowton. Rauf complains that he is entitled to his father William's property, Robert maintains that William gave it to his brother George, who was Robert's father.

    Notes:
