In the name of god Amen the eleventh day of November in the year of our lord one thousand six hundred sixty eight I George Welbanck of North Cowton in ... of York being sick and weake in body but of a sound and perfect memory praise be given to god for the same. knowing the uncertaintie. of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order doe make this my last will & Testament in manor and forms following that is to say first and principally I commend my soule to Almighty god my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon & free remission of my sins and be saved by his precious death & merrits of my beloved saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus & my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent manner as to my executors hereafter named shall be thought meet & conveinent & as touching such wordly affairs as the lord in mercy hath lent me my will & meaning is the same shall be imployed & bestowed as hereafter by this my will is expressed & also I doe revoke renounce frustrate & for ever make voyde all wills formerly by me made: I doe make this my last will & Testament. I give & bequeath to Christopher Welbanck my eldest sonne all my lands in North ..aforesaid to him and his heires for ever provided always nevertheless my will & meaning is that if it shall please god to call him the said Christopher forth of this world before he is attained to the age of one and Twenty yeares or also that he die without issue then my will & meaning is & I do hereby give & bequeath unto the rest of my sonns hereafter to be named to wit Robert: John: Fortune & their heires & assignes for ever all my lands aforesd to be equally divided amongst them but if it please god that my said eldest sone shall attain to the age of one and Twenty yeares or leave issue then my will & meaning is & I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my second son Robert Welbank five pounds to be paid forth of the lands aforesaid when he shall attain to the age of one & Twenty yeares also I give unto John Welbanck my third sonne Twenty pounds when he shall attain to the age of one & Twenty years to be paid forth of the lands aforesaid.
