Gravestone inscription:
Under this stone are deposited the remains of Margaret, daughter of George Welbank and wife of George Brown, gent, in whom were united the social and domestic virtues which are the best ornament of a Christian. A cultivated mind gave her a more perfect knowledge of her duty : the practice of it, an unaffected piety rendered habitual. Deprived of so amiable a pattern of conjugal and maternal affection, her surviving family mourn daily their irreparable loss ; whilst the many to whom she endeared herself by her benevolence of mind and conversation, shed the involuntary tear of friendship to her memory.
She departed this life November 14, 1776, in the 40th year of her age."
Also, here lie interred the remains of the above-named Geo. Brown, gent, who was blessed with a long life, and died the death of the righteous on the 15th day of March, 1805, in the 80th year of his age." |
